Job Description

Who You Are

You will lead the technical direction for Hirer Shared Services, shaping cloud-first shared platforms that improve developer experience and tech health for teams across the Hirer domain. You will design and evolve critical services such as the domain-wide GraphQL API, audit logging, and centralised authorisation, partnering with Engineering Managers and senior leaders across a distributed team of around 10 people based in Kuala Lumpur, Melbourne and Sydney.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure sub-domain services and platforms are fit for purpose, well-architected and aligned to SEEK development practices and technical metrics
  • Design, operate and evolve scalable, performant cloud-first systems on AWS, including complex GraphQL-based architectures
  • Act as the technical escalation point for your sub-domain, deep-diving into incidents and leading incident reviews, documentation and follow-up improvements
  • Uplift engineering discipline by championing CI/CD, TDD/BDD, clean code, secure coding and DevOps practices across multiple teams
  • Define and drive technical roadmaps that improve tech health, observability, resilience, security and compliance for shared services
  • Partner with Engineering Managers, Heads of Engineering, Architecture, Security and Product to align sub-domain strategy with SEEK’s technical strategy
  • Coach and mentor Staff Engineers and Software Engineers, nurturing future technical leaders and fostering a safe, inclusive and engaged engineering culture

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience designing, developing and operating cloud-first applications and APIs on AWS, including complex architectures using GraphQL
  • Proven track record owning services or platforms end to end, including defining and using technical health metrics, logging, monitoring and alerting
  • Experience applying and improving CI/CD, TDD/BDD, clean code and DevOps practices across one or more engineering teams
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and negotiate technical trade-offs with senior stakeholders, and to lead technical discussions across multiple teams
  • Strong background in Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Platform Engineering, Data Engineering or Systems Engineering/Administration
  • Experience coaching and mentoring engineers, driving cross-team collaboration, and contributing to internal or external engineering communities (guilds, meet-ups, conferences, open-source)

About The Team

We’re hiring for a team in Hirer Engineering that is completing one of SEEK’s largest legacy retirement projects and pivoting to its long-term mission — advancing capabilities of all engineering teams in the domain through improved developer experience and shared systems.

The team will have multiple objectives to achieve this mission:

  • Drive economies of scale by centralising how engineering teams across the domain manage tech health, including but not limited to security, observability, resilience, and compliance.
  • Advance the capabilities of our domain’s engineering teams, especially through improved support for AI agents.
  • Building velocity-oriented architecture that evolve the approaches and capabilities of the engineering teams in the domain. This will include improving the architecture of an existing domain-wide GraphQL API, an audit logging system, and a centralised authorisation system; while building new systems where necessary.

At SEEK we offer:

  • Annual Performance Bonus Plan
  • Support of flexible working, including a mix of office and work from home days depending on your role.
  • Paid and unpaid leave benefits including Personal Flexi Days  as well as the opportunity to purchase additional leave
  • Tailored career development planning (including Education Assistance Program)

At SEEK, we are passionate about fostering a culture of inclusion and wellbeing that embraces and values the diversity of our people. We are a purpose driven business that works with heart.

We know teams with diverse ideas, experiences and perspectives are more creative and are critical to ensuring effective delivery and innovating to enable our future success. As such, we welcome applications from people with diverse backgrounds and life experiences, especially as they relate to gender, sexual identity, culture, faith, disability and life stages. If you have the skills, curiosity and an adaptable mindset but don’t meet every responsibility or qualification listed in this advertisement, please still get in touch with us.

Should you require any specific support or adjustments throughout the recruitment process and beyond, please advise us and we will be happy to assist.

For this role, only those with eligible right to work will be considered.

SEEK kindly requests no unsolicited resumes or approaches from recruitment agencies and will not be responsible for any associated fees.
